چکیده

This paper is centered around concept-based navigation, a powerful hypermedia navigation model. Main ideas behind concept-based navigation model are concept-based indexing and student modeling. We introduce the idea of concept-based navigation and describe its implementation in InterBook, an authoring system for designing Web-based adaptive hypermedia. We also demonstrate a number of benefits of the approach itself and its implementation in InterBook.

Biomedical Adaptive Educational Hypermedia System: a Theoretical Model for Adaptive Navigation Support

The first Adaptive Hypermedia System (AHS) was presented in the early nineties (Furuta & Scotts, 1990), (Ginderen, 1990). However, this model was not based in World Wide Web (WWW). The first use in WWW appeared in 1996 (Brusilovsky, 1996). Currently, AHS are used for information recovery; interface adaptation, user assistance, learning support, dialogue, cooperation support and others applicati...

An Architecture to Support an Open Distributed Hypermedia System

Contemporary systems, such as the World Wide Web (WWW), have illustrated how crucial global access to information is to the Internet community. For many, the WWW also serves as an introduction to the concept of hypermedia, demonstrating its potential in providing an integrated and unifying paradigm for information organisation. As demands upon the WWW grew, it became apparent that the simplicit...

An Object Oriented Approach to Web - Based Application Design

In this paper we discuss the use of an object-oriented approach for web-based applications design, based on a method named Object-Oriented Hypermedia Design Method (OOHDM). We first motivate our work discussing the problems encountered while designing large scale, dynamic web-based applications, which combine complex navigation patterns with sophisticated computational behavior. We argue that a...

Conceptual Modeling for Educational Hyperbooks

In the last years, several modeling techniques for hypermedia systems have been developed, which extend known domain modeling techniques from the database and software engineering field with dedicated constructs for specifying possibilities of navigation. The focus of these frameworks is on providing front ends to loosely structured collections of multimedia data. In our virtual classroom proje...

Conceptual Stage in Designing Multimedia for Tele Learning

The design of educational WWW-based hypermedia is often seen as a process of gradually progressing from content into interaction design. In the final shaping of the hyperlinks, menus and orientation pages, too many decisions are normally made at the same time. This article presents a four-stage design process that gives more attention to the conceptual and metaphoric aspects to be covered. Sche...
